Word of welcome from Dr. Gudrun Berger, UNICEF Austria

Sports and play are inextricably linked with childhood. The right of a child to sports and play is also laid down in the convention on the rights of the child! UNICEF includes even sports activities in its world-wide aid programmes in order to improve the life of the poorest children.

Football not only promotes the healthiest development of children but it also conveys values such as friendship and fair play. Football imparts team spirit, mutual respect and responsibility. Young footballers learn to contribute to a better and fairer world. “ALLtogether” offers children and young people all these possibilities. Therefore, UNICEF Austria happily supports this football festival and wishes all participants in Linz 2010 lots of fun and success!
